Maria Palasis, PhD
Executive Vice President, R&D
Maria Palasis is Executive Vice President of Research and Development at Arsenal Medical, where she leads the technology and product development, clinical, and regulatory functions at Arsenal.
Prior to Arsenal Medical, Maria was an R&D Director at Boston Scientific. While at Boston Scientific, she managed a portfolio of external biotechnology and medical device investments totaling $170M and was responsible for the development of new convergence products for the Company.
Maria joined Boston Scientific in 1995 as an early member of the team that created the TAXUS drug eluting stent, the single most important revenue generator for the Company at $2.5B/year. She held a number of positions within the Company that included strategic planning for the development of advanced combination therapies, managing strategic alliances through clinical trials, and building and directing the company’s centralized infrastructure for the biological testing of next-generation stent technologies supporting the global organization.
Maria has 15 scientific publications, 40 patents and several invited lectures in the field of combination medical devices. She received her Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Cincinnati and held a postdoctoral fellowship in Molecular Biology at the University of Cincinnati School of Medicine.
